M&S has launched its highly-anticipated summer sale for 2023 with up to 50 per cent off across womenswear, menswear, kids, home and beauty

Marks and Spencer has finally launched its hotly-anticipated summer sale for 2023. After weeks of waiting, M&S fans will be able to grab a host of summer essentials for up to half price - from holiday clothing to bras and homeware.

The M&S summer sale is one of biggest events in the retailer's calendar and, as many shoppers will know, bosses never reveal when the sale will take place until it actually happens. This year's sale started this morning, August 3, with huge discounts across womenswear, menswear, kids, home and beauty.

Prices have been slashed online as well as in stores, with some of the biggest reductions including this Pure Cotton Beach Dress, down from £39.50 to just £10, and the best-selling Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers, now only £19, down from £39.50.

Already today, demand has been extremely high for some of M&S's more popular items, which have been selling quickly. Some shoppers have reported technical issues while trying to order online and the M&S website went down for a short time this afternoon as thousands of people rushed to snap up the biggest savings.

The Marks and Spencer website appears to have crashed momentarily - hours after the launch of its big summer sale.

Shoppers trying to get on the website just before 1pm were met with an error message, which said: "Please bear with us. Sorry you can't shop with us right now. We're working hard to be back online as soon as possible."

When BirminghamLive checked back shortly afterwards, the website's usual homepage had returned.

The summer sale is one of M&S's biggest events of the year, with thousands of people rushing to the site to nab the best bargains before they sell out.

Some shoppers have complained on social media about technical issues while trying to order online, as Suzanne Lawn said: "Spent ages picking things. Now can't check out on the website or the app. What a waste of time. Poor show Marks and Spencer!"

Lucy Bielby added: "Same, what a pity the website can’t cope. Lost my basket numerous [times] now so lost revenue to M&S!"

This colourful summer maxi dress is selling fast on the M&S website - but it's still available in a range of sizes.

You're bound to stand out in the Cotton Blend Printed Maxi Tiered Dress, which features a modern a shirred panel back and a tiered skirt which skims your figure for a flattering shape.

Reduced from £39.50 to £20, the dress comes in regular, petite and long lengths to suit all body types.

The Leather Strappy Statement Sandals, available in cerise pink and silver, were £45 but now have £17 off - but there are only a few sizes left in stock online!

This Paw Patrol Rescue Bulldozer is down from £17 to £12.75 or there's a Polly Pocket Unicorn Party Playset which has been reduced from £44.99 to £35.99.

This Disney Frozen Elsa Doll is down from £16 to £12.80 and there's also savings on board games, including this Cluedo Classic Board Game, down from £27 to £18.90 and Monopoly's Travel World Tour Edition, reduced from £29.99 to £14.99.

The Printed V-Neck Midaxi Waisted Dress from M&S's TV advert is down from £45 to £19 - better than half price. Inject some bohemian style into your wardrobe with this breezy, easy-to-wear dress. One shopper said: "Stylish and comfortable. Great for holidays as does not crease."

And this striking Floral Jacquard Square Neck Midi Dress is down from £55 to £27. It's designed in a comfy regular fit, with breezy short sleeves and a tiered skirt. Wear it with sandals for an elevated day-time look on warm days or dress up with a pair of heels for a wedding. Shoppers have described it as 'well-made', a 'great fit' and said that it 'hangs well'.

Marks and Spencer is currently offering free standard delivery on orders over £60. This excludes furniture.

For orders under £60, standard delivery costs £3.50.

M&S also offers a collect-in-store option for online orders, which is free.

Next day delivery costs £4.99 and a time slot delivery costs £5.99.
