Car diffusers just got luxe. Forget hanging little pine scented cardboard trees off your rear view mirror, because indulgent, treat-yourself brands like Diptyque, The White Company and Jo Malone have thrown their hat into the ring.

It's an extension of the ‘wellterior’ trend we've seen spike in response to the last 24 months, which saw us focus on making our interior spaces a wellness haven. Even though we're back out of the house, we're still hyper-sensitive to our surroundings, which is why the massive trend in home fragrances and air purification is being explored and upgraded even further.

Having the ability to control the air space around us is something we can quite literally take on the road now thanks to new high end brands entering the space with their own spin on car diffusers. Plus, it's an opportunity to get real boujee with fine fragrances instead of regular car air fresheners.

While some of the options available are a bit of an investment, oil diffusers like The White Company's £15 clip-on scenting stick allow you to fill it up with whichever fragrance oil takes your fancy – which could be one of the brand's own, or something you already have in your stash. Likewise, Neom's, £50, battery powered, portable device can be topped up with any essential oil of your choosing. Plus, it can be taken with you anywhere you go, so you can stick it in your cup holder on route to your office/staycation etc then bring it inside with you.

And, there are refillable options, too. Jo Malone's two-part car diffuser requires the holder (pretty spenny at £48) and a £25 cartridge that can be topped up every few months without having to re-buy the entire thing. And Rituals £16 car perfume can be refilled for £13.
