Time to find your living room’s signature scent.

When it comes to home fragrance, there’s no better place to start then a new diffuser. Candles are often top of mind, but for those who’d rather avoid an open flame, a bottle plus reeds makes for a chic substitute. Naturally, how you choose a reed diffuser comes down to personal preference and, oftentimes, seasonal leanings. Some may lean toward a more floral scent while others toward a woodsier tone. Whatever your preference, one of the more underappreciated virtues of a diffuser is its packaging, which can range from artful glass to colorful ceramic. Here, we’ve rounded up some of our favorites that you’ll want to keep in your living room or foyer all year long.

In need of a sunny escape? This fragrance from Glasshouse takes cues from idyllic Hamptons beaches and evokes a dreamy summer vacay with notes of iris, juniper, and teak.

Breezy florals are great, but sometimes you need something with a bit more oomph to really fill a room. Those looking for an earthier fragrance will gravitate toward Charcoal, which seamlessly blends notes of cedarwood and sandalwood for a smoky, vampy aura.

The latest fragrance from Carrière Frères embodies the zest and vibrancy of yuzu, which is to say it’s fresh, fun, and heavy on citrus notes. Perfect for summer, or as an antidote to a particularly dreary winter season.

Adler’s signature head-turner motif has graced countless shelves and tabletops, and it’s even available in diffuser form. With a scent that evokes freshly cut flowers, it’s a light, breezy fragrance for the warmer months.

Your next luxe reed diffuser doesn’t have to break the bank. Case in point, this offering from Cocorrína, which combines the disparate scents of rose and sandalwood for a sweet yet subtle final product.

If you haven’t yet found your Acqua di Parma fragrance of choice, well, there’s no time like the present. Insieme combines two classic aromas, lemon and amber, for a scent inspired by fellowship and gathering together. Bellissima!

Reed diffusers make for great housewarming gifts; New Home in particular—with its linen-fresh scent—really speaks to that brief.

L’or de Seraphine carries a wide range of illustrative diffusers, but we’re partial to Ares, which features a verdant green color palette and whimsical leopards. The scent itself is plenty woodsy, with cedarwood, sage, and papyrus notes.

Few things are more idyllic than escaping to the Mediterranean’s sandy shores, and Fiori di Capri puts all of that romance and sunshine into a bright, floral bottle. With citrus and floral notes, it’s the perfect summer scent—just add some cacio e pepe.

In addition to couture, Maison Margiela also dabbles in the home fragrance world, and has a line of minimalist-chic reed diffusers. We’re partial to this smoky fragrance, which includes notes of clove oil, chestnut, and vanilla.

The reed diffusers from P.F. Candle Co. don’t draw too much attention to themselves, featuring typewriter-esque font and modest glass bottles. Notes of sage, moss, and lavender make this particular fragrance subtle yet distinct.

Loewe, maker of pixelated shirts and anthurium-clad gowns, also has a fragrance or two up its sleeve. Ivy in particular is a floral scent and is encased in a striking pink ceramic vessel.

Want to splurge on your next reed diffuser? You can’t go wrong with porcelain from Ginori 1735, and its line designed by Luca Nichetto brings color, drama, and sculpture to the room. A mix of mandarin and bergamot notes makes for a soothing yet striking overall aroma.

When it comes to diffusers, fragrance is important, yes, but so is a gorgeous vessel. This one from Baobab Collection mimics the metallic finish of polished copper and comes with an intricate ceramic. The scent itself is a musky mix of sandalwood and black pepper.

Rose is a classic scent, so if you’re not sure what to gift someone, this diffuser from L’Objet feels like a safe bet. The white porcelain container will fit in pretty much any living environment too.

Like all of Trudon’s diffuser fragrances, Ernesto comes packaged in a gorgeous, fluted vessel with the brand’s signature gold emblem. Incorporating notes of rum, grapefruit, and bergamot, it’s an aroma that’s equal parts sweet and sultry.

If you’re partial to burning a stick or two of palo santo, then why not snap up a diffuser that also speaks to that scent? This one from Pottery Barn captures those woody fragrances with notes of clove and vanilla.

West Elm carries a wide range of Grapefruit and Ylang accessories, from candles to sprays. You can’t go wrong with the diffuser, though, which captures the citrusy smell in a chic black glass bottle.

If you’ve ever set foot in an Anthropologie store, then you know Volcano. The signature mix of oranges and limes has become one of the brand’s staples; now you can bring it home in diffuser form.

Scents can set the mood; they can also help clear the mind. Brooklinen’s diffuser aims to do the latter, with a blend of geranium and cardamom that’s designed to bring clarity. Pair with the brand’s soft, affordable sheets for best (read: coziest) results.
